A lot of food we like is regional. Within each region, you'll have to learn some of the lingo if you want to order like the locals. We'll do our best to keep a running list of terms and phrases in alphabetically order even! This is by no means a scholarly source of information. Please let us know if there is a correction to be made. You will also find words and or phrases that only surface during buffets, potlucks, and anytime your inner fat kid wants to speak. A (Back to top) - Animal Style: noun. Origin: "In-n-Out Burger". Can be applied to burger and or fries. Contains grilled onions, extra pickles, and extra spread. May also contain cheese.
D (Back to top) - Double Meat: word. Origin: "In-n-Out Burger". Exactly what is says "double meat"
M (Back to top) - Meat Sweats: noun. Origin: unkown. actually 2 nouns. double noun? A type of sweat that only appears after eating massive amounts of meat. No exercise required.
P (Back to top) - Protein Style: adverb. Origin: "In-n-Out Burger". Choice of burger sans bread and wrapped in lettuce.
R (Back to top) - Ripper: Yumnoun. Origin: "Rutt's Hut". Deep fried hotdog. Crunchy on the outside yummy on the inside.
W (Back to top) - Wiz-wit: palabra. Origin: "Pat's"actually 2 nouns. double noun? wiz = cheez whiz wit = with onions in reference to ordering a cheese steak sandwich at Pat's in Philly with cheez whiz and onions.
